Here We Go Again w/ Baked Bean Salsa.
I’m starting to post to the blog again. After a few days of me focusing on eating an alkaline diet and feeling fired up we have decided to put emphasis on it for the whole family. Tonight we had an alkaline dinner consisting of tofu and soup that was half raw. It was a success. So why don’t you all get on the wagon here and do it with us? It will make you feel good.
Please check out this article on acidosis . After you read it come back and click on this link to Dr. Robert Young’s blog. Yesterday’s post is of an Icelandic family that healed their autistic son with the alkaline diet.
Tonight I basically used this recipe to make Tomato Avocado Soup, but broiled the tomatoes so I could get the skin off. Elsa doesn’t like the skin. I also replaced the almonds (of course since Isabella is allergic to them) with sunflower seeds. Scott fried cubes of tofu that we dipped in organic ketchup using cocktail umbrellas (gotta make it fun).
Lunch was also alkaline and wonderful Baked Bean Salsa .
We topped it with not so alkaline but delicious freshly baked gluten free cookies from here . They are an important encouragement ’cause you don’t get one unless you finish your first helping. I will learn how to make alkaline desserts but hey, one step at a time.
Now first thing last or so to speak. We start our day with a green shake. Breakfast is after all the most important meal of the day. Since I am still avoiding sugars and fructose I don’t do the Berry-Avocado shake I taught you last summer but instead I do the Green Cucumber. Yeah! Everybody also takes cold pressed flax seed oil and acai berry concentrate.
2 dl Coconut Water (or water or freshly pressed apple juice)
100g spinach or arugula (3 handfuls or so, looks like a lot but it isn’t)
½ cucumber
½ lime
½ avocado
lots of fresh mintThrow it all except the avocado in the blender and blend well. Then add the avocado and mix to a creamy texture. Drink and enjoy!
I have to work on a shake that the girls will like. I think avocado, banana, cocoa and a little soy milk might do it. Will try it this weekend.
